Slinky Under the Sea

I got the idea for this from a good friend, whose picture was better than this, but inspired me to play with a slinky using a repeating flash. It's just a slinky, but it reminds me of a squid.

I clamped the end of a slinky to a table covered with a black cloth and had my wife pull and stretch the slinky while the pop up flash on my D90 fired 10 times in a 1/2 second exposure against a dark background. Sadly, none of my Nikon off camera strobes will fire in repeat mode, but the pop up flash on my camera will.

In post processing, I used Nik Color Efex Pro filters, and Photoshop blending layers to add some color to an otherwise stark, but still interesting image. Fun stuff.
