Living Room

rippo has added a photo to the pool:

Living Room

This couple hired me to make their portraits, and were really keen on having it done in their home. Sure, why not? Had some nice light coming through the side window there, and the blinds could be closed to remove distractions.

There is a certain "Martin Parr" look to this image. I don't know what it is.

Bronica ETR-s with 80mm f/2.8 lens. Kodak Portra 160 film. Metz Mecablitz 60, camera left, in a 43" silver umbrella. CyberSync triggers.

I took an incident meter reading of the light coming in through the window, and the position of the man's head. I set this for one stop over, and that was my exposure. I then set the strobe so that it was correct for the aperture setting.

I wanted this image to be very light, minimum shadows. I definitely wanted the impression that much of the light was coming in through the window. So I let the ambient do a lot of the work. But the fall-off on the woman would have been too dramatic without flash (I have an image where the flash failed to fire, which confirmed my suspicions).

I chimped this with a dSLR first, then fired away.
