...and it is...bright
The next logical step in my photographic progression (iPhone->Holga->DSLR->HDR (HDR!)->Long exposures->film->black and white film->ambient light portraits...) has arrived! It has taken the form of a strobe, speedlight, flash--whatever you want to call it. The idea of creating my own light for my photographs is intriguing. It means I no longer have to "wait" for light to appear. I can just go out and make it. I've been logging a lot of hours on strobist.com lately and have been absorbing everything I can about some of the great lighters out there, starting, of course, with Avedon. I have a lot to learn...
This was shot with my Fuji x10 (my only remaining digital camera) with a Yongnuo 460ii and an old Pentax AF280. The Pentax is back, camera right, shooting through an umbrella onto a white (or, to be specific, ivory) bedsheet. The Yongnuo is shot through my own DIY beauty dish at about 1/8 power, camera right about 4 feet from the model(/gf).
