Golden Orbs

I love the light fixtures at the Schermerhorne Symphony Center. I've photographed the Nashville Symphony, San Fransico Symphony and some pop artists there but my first wedding there was last night and it was a really great venue for a wedding.

This lobby makes me think Opra. I'd love to try a shot just like this but with a large opra singer in a Viking helmet, mouth wide open.

Strobist: 1 AB 1600ws light with beauty dish to the subjects left (my right) and facing her at a 45 degree angle. I had it turned down pretty low so I could open up the F-Stop to keep the columns from getting too dark. The reception was held in this lobby and I set up a light with a huge parabolic umbrella in that spot up on the balcony above and behind her head. I had another light on the opposite side both facing down onto the dance floor and it really looked amazing in there. I guess because there was so much whie in there the light seemed to bounce around everywhere and soften any shadows. The results were great!
