primeparry has added a photo to the pool:
For the Strobist Sundays theme "Flowers, really!"
We planted our yard with a combination of grass and clover. Clover is drought resistant, nitrogen fixing, and grows well in sun and shade. And this time of year, the bees love the flowers!
I set up my lights to take a few pictures of the clover flowers, and a bee happened to fly over to the patch of clover that I was lighting. (Unfortunately, I hadn't gotten the power levels set for my exposure, yet.) I don't have a macro lens, but I think that this photo does a good job of telling the story of my yard in spring.
I took this photo in early evening when it was still quite bright out. I dropped the exposure a couple of stops and then added the light. I was trying to keep the focus on the foreground flowers and provide a darker background for the white flowers. At the same time, I wanted to show that the clover (and the white flowers) stretched off into the distance.
Post processing: reduced exposure, cropped, sharpened.
