At the Speed of Light

At the Speed of Light

Day 21

Special thanks to Richard for being a test subject for my new stripboxes and posing with full gear which, I know, is warm as hell.

Today has been quite productive.

Morning, I woke up early and did the groceries with the wife and the baby. Took me around 15 minutes to finish buying all we need and waited 45 minutes for my two passengers to come back. I would've rant but I couldn't since the baby was there and smiling her usual self.

Immediately after reaching home I worked on my DIY stripboxes. I made holes, enough to fit my strobes, on one side of the containers I got from work. After that, taped aluminum foil inside the containers and then covered the opening with white silk (I think its silk, anyway it diffuses so it works).

Went to Anggrekmas, setup my lights including the experimental stripboxes. A few observations. They are wobbly and eats up a lot of light but they work wonders! The light was soft, controlled and goes to where I want it to go. After struggling with the wind, I brought my umbrella instead of the softbox, and focusing (already pitch black after I finished setting up) I reviewed the shots and decided on a keeper.

Next step was to capture a long exposure of a busy road with a curve. And the nearest place I've seen is costarina. After a short drive, I reached the place. Parked the car and set-up my tripod at the grassy area adjacent to the curve. I was just shooting and trying to get an acceptable amount of light streaks. After 10 minutes or so I decided to go back.

A bit pf photoshop (yes only a bit), and here's the final product. I know, I overshot the time and its already past Day 21 and I am still writing. Anyway, tomorrow I hope I can shoot some stock photos and maybe try out my ND Fader filter. Til then, see you when I see you...

Strobist Info:
Shoot thru umbrella overhead at 3/4 power
Stripboxes at 2 and 10 oclock at 1/2 power
