16/52

beachc0mber has added a photo to the pool:

16/52

Since a shoot with a few weeks ago which went really badly, I have been unable to take anything I'm particularly pleased with. My mojo has been off, and I've been 'settling' for the shots I've ended up with.

Yesterday, I hadn't planned to see Rachel, but it was an unexpected treat to get to spend a few quiet hours with my friend while my other half took a post night shift nap. I loaded my gear up, and hoped she'd be up for it.

Not only was she up for it, I managed to make some portraits which she loved - and she reports always hating pictures of herself! She was really excited that she liked them, and her enthusiasm really rubbed off on me. It was exactly the laid back, everything coming together kind of shoot I needed to get me back in to the project.

Strobist: It also gave me an opportunity to use my big new 150cm umbrella for that gorgeous soft light falling on my model coming from my SB600, firing on 1/8 - immediately out of frame to my left. Behind her is a SB800 gelled purple on 1/8 power firing on 24mm.
