Small scale living in Ness, Isle of Lewis. The open fire is fuelled by readily available supplies of peat - the whole reason these dwellings are here in the first place. You can see a few wrinkles in the front wall... almost makes the place look like a temporary building on a film set. This is here for the long haul - the wooden walls are wrapped in a fresh layer of roofing felt.
