Map Treefrog (Hypsiboas geographicus)

Apebrains has added a photo to the pool:

Map Treefrog (Hypsiboas geographicus)

Photo of a Geographic or Map Treefrog from Suriname, taken for FCR. This photo was shot with a Canon 7D through an EF 70-200mm f/4.0L IS USM lens. It was lit with one Canon 580 EX II speedlight on a lightstand at camera right, and through a white umbrella. The flash was triggered using Canon's integrated off-camera flash firing system.

The Map treefrog is an uncommon species in the treefrog family (formerly Hyla geographica, but recently renamed Hypsiboas crepitans). It is named for the map-like patterning on it's dorsal surface. This frog is part of a group of South American frogs that come in a highly diverse set of patterns and colors, many of which are exceptionally beautiful. This individual displays lovely garnet-colored eyes and beautiful map-like patterning. The leaf used for the photo is a Snake Plant, or Mother-in-law's Tongue (Sansevieria trifasciata).
