I went with my daughter to the San Diego County Fair yesterday, and I think the title sums it up. I've always liked dahlias, although we don't grow any, and the ones on display in the exhibit hall were stunning.
Strobist info: I lit this with a hand held strobe (SB600) off to the left of the flower for directional light. The flash was triggered by the pop up flash on my D90 in commander mode.
According to recent polls, most discerning horticultural experts choose to view this picture by seeing it large against a dark background. Press "L" to if you'd like to see it in that enlightened manner.
