Happy Easter! I thought it'd be cool to shoot a portrait in a lift - perfect to put that wide angle to work. Lifts are usually highly reflective and pick up the ambient and light spill very well. In this shot, I wanted a cool blue look everywhere, so I set the camera to tungsten. I set up one strobe on the floor, and used an umbrella for soft, wrap around light - this was positioned just above the subject's head but to camera left. To reduce spill, I collapsed the umbrella into a cone while it had the black cover on. The key to make the subject stand out was to use 1 full CTO to neutralise the tungsten and another 1/2 CTO to bring out the warmth. The light from the strobe at the bottom turns blue (tungsten conversion) and bounces around in the reflective lift interior whereas the umbrella strobe light gets warmed up because of the CTO gels. It also is restricted to the subject's face mostly because of the spill reduction. Further post processing in PS gives it that production quality look. I'm not really a fan of using PS too much, but hey, when you have a couple of hours....
