Beautiful, soft light - that's what you get from curtains on windows, on a bright day anyway. You see, they pretty much mimic a soft box, but as the size is a lot larger relative to the subject, the light is very soft. Of course, as you can probably tell I did add a second strobe behind the subject for separation (provides the rim light). The strobe behind was left ungelled for better demarcation between key and rim light temperatures and was set to 1/32 power (that's really all it takes, subtlety is a good thing) at about a foot distance from the subject. The camera was set to cloudy white balance, to accentuate the warm tones as we respond better to warm, amber skin tones compared to a cooler blue.
