Just to show it definitely hasn't gone to waste, I've used my new softbox and flashgun that I got for Christmas in this cross-lighting technique to photograph a self portrait.
I would've worn clothes, but it was more tempting to do it without. You're not complaining though, right? Fine art and all that.
Softbox camera left, with LP160 and umbrella camera right with YN140 strobes.
